On figuring out how to be.

Hey readers!

Today is going to be a short entry.  I just wanted to share today’s lamentation, “days of our lives.”  It’s funny how a title of a daytime soap opera got me thinking.  I never understood when I was younger how much power I have to decide how I want my day to be.  People say you can fool yourself into thinking certain things.  While that may sound negative to some, I believe there’s a positive way to do it.

There may have been times when you’ve woken up in the morning feeling shitty.  There was no grabbing the world by its lapels to say “Here I am World, I’m ready to conquer you.”  I guess if it were that easy, people would be able to do it more often.  Oftentimes, life is about the attitude YOU choose for the day.  You may be feeling down, sad about some indeterminable decision, worried about a mountain you have to climb, or just plain lonely. Remember, you have the ability to push forth, to think positive, to put a smile on your face.  I constantly have to remind myself of that.

President Obama once said, “you are the change you seek.”  If things aren’t looking up, try changing the way you’re looking at it.  So when you wake up one morning, don’t try looking for an answer to your problems, just smile to yourself about the ones you’ve already conquered.

Autre temps, autre moeurs.

  1. Well written and I agree that you must change the way you are looking at things. However, it is not so easy when your problems are a result of the inability of others to change how they view things.

  2. I agree with your assertion, however some days we can’t be concerned with others when our own perception is crippling us. People are going to think what they think, but in order to even confront them, it’s important to confront ourselves first. When we get to other people. we must ask ourselves, can I overcome this? If not, can I readily change my situation? If not, what plan can I develop to get to a place that is more fortuitous for me.
